chocolate covered pretzels, candy gifts, kosher candy, dried fruit and nuts, bulk dried fruit, purim gift baskets

There must have been some trepidation the first time someone attempted to combine salty and sweet. I for one was apprehensive about the combination for a long time myself except whenever I would protest the idea people would come back to me with one sterling unavoidable argument: chocolate covered pretzels.

How could one ever even consider arguing the old salty versus sweet paradigm when chocolate covered pretzels offer such a perfect wholly realized version of flavor perfection? Clearly there was no argument to be had against the idea anymore. Freeing yourself to the charms of the salty sweet combination will likely open all kinds of complex and interesting tastes to your pallet. (I have taken to dipping french fries in maple syrup from time to time.) Still, all of the experimentation in the world will likely mean nothing compared to the charm of chocolate topping a salty crunchy pretzel.

The Candy Store has a lot of really interesting chocolate covered pretzels in their line. From the added saltiness of a layer of nuts to the more richly sweet flavor of white chocolate. Each pretzel has a special flavor and each will definitely remind you of the unyielding charms of inventive taste combinations.

Candy Centerpieces for Parties

May 15th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Candy - (0 Comments)

candy giftsLast week we talked about purchasing candy gifts for graduates. It is that time of year again. But what if you’re the one hosting the party? As many times as I implore people to add a little sweet to their gift, you cannot assume people are going to take care of dessert at the party. So it’s up to you, mom and dad, to make sure the tables are chock full of good food, candy included.

When it comes time to serve dessert, you’ll no doubt have plenty of cakes, pies, and cookies. Maybe even some ice cream in the freezer too. But if you’re throwing  a large party, whether in a venue or in your backyard, it’s good to put out candy treats too. You can browse the selection of candy centerpieces here at the Candy Store or stop by their actual store and request a custom order. Of course, you can speak with them over the phone too if you’re out of state. They would be more than happy to put together special centerpieces for the tables. Order chocolate covered pretzels, truffles, dried fruit, etc. to keep everyone happy and full. Well, hopefully not too full so they can try all the other dessert!

Candy Gifts for the Graduate

May 8th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Candy - (0 Comments)

kosher candyI’m assuming by now you’ve already purchased your candy for Mother’s Day, which we discussed two weeks ago. Mother’s Day will soon be over and it’ll be time for all the adults to start thinking about who is graduating this year. College students will be bidding school adieu probably within the next 2 or 3 weeks. High school students, however, are in the home stretch. Now is a good time to start thinking about gifts.

Close friends and family will be buying laptops, dorm room supplies, jewelry, and other commemorative items. Before you get ready to just stick that check in an envelope and call it a day, why not consider a little add-on to your generous donation? The Candy Store offers plenty of candy gifts which will be a big hit at the party. From chocolate covered pretzels to mixed platters of candy and nuts, you can tap into the grad’s sweet tooth with a little surprise. If a big party is being thrown, it’ll be an exceptionally nice gesture to bring some food for all the guests, not just the lucky graduate.

Make a big splash with a tray of truffles or three tiers of scrumptious delights. The Candy Store has plenty of treats to fit your budget and fill the stomachs of the grad and all his friends.

And if you order from now until May 17th, you can qualify for free ground shipping on orders over $35.

candy giftsMother’s Day is just around the corner, May 13 to be exact. Have you already purchased dear mom a fabulous gift? If not, you still have time. While you’re pondering whether to get her a new bracelet, a gift certificate to the spa, or a new handbag, one part of the gift that is a must is a candy gift. Candy gifts are a wonderful add-on to, hopefully, a really awesome gift. I wouldn’t recommend just giving mom candy. She might try to pull the “I’m on a diet” routine. But if you pair delicious treats with a diamond bracelet, how can she say no?

The Candy Store has a wonderful selection of treats that are sure to make mom salivate just a tad. For the moms who do not like chocolate, try a platter of dried fruit and nuts or a a sectional candy platter. She can’t say no to a “Your the Best” mug filled to the brim with candy. As we discussed last week, chocolate covered pretzels are always a hit –no one can resist the pairing of sweet and savory. And for moms who cannot deny chocolatey goodness, there is the charger filled with chocolate truffles –a truly excellent choice.

Remember to wow mom and tug at her heart and palette this Mother’s Day.

A Gummi Candy Takeover

April 23rd, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Candy - (0 Comments)

kosher candyA few weeks ago, The Baltimore Sun wrote a piece about the increasing market for gummi candies and mentioned the fine candy makers here at The Candy Store. To recap the article, adults actually make up 65% of gummi candy consumption here in the States, and not children. And believe it or not, sales for the candy have grown in the double digits as of late. Consumers want a fat-free, gluten-free alternative to chocolate and other non-chocolate candies.

Yehuda Nelkin of The Candy Store said:

“Once I saw what was going on with the gummies, we set one area of the store just for the gummies. The gummies sell 75 percent better than the rest of the candy. We sell pounds and pounds of it. When we have people coming in, there’s a very good chance they’re going to be buying some gummies.”

Sales aren’t just coming from consumers who walk into their Baltimore location. People are also using gummi candies at “candy bars” during wedding receptions and parties and ice cream shops using them as toppings. So if you’re looking for more than just chocolate covered pretzels or want to add something chewier to candy gifts, add some of the tasty gummi candies offered at The Candy Store.

Check out the rest of the article here.

chocolate covered pretzelsOpposites attract and not just in relationships. The pairing of sweet and salty is not a new concept but it is an amazingly tasty one. Chocolate covered pretzels are a favorite among many, myself included. For whatever reason, the taste buds delight in the opposing flavors but they blend so well together. The Candy Store has a large selection of chocolate covered pretzels, and I do mean a lot!

Now just plain milk chocolate over a pretzel is amazing, but there are so many more options such as nuts, cookie crunch, sprinkles (of every color), and of course white chocolate. With so many options you can add chocolate covered pretzels to a gift basket for any occasion. Blue and pink sprinkles are ideal for baby showers. Pick out the recipient’s favorite colors for birthdays and get well baskets. Any peanut butter lovers will delight in peanut butter dipped pretzels, add drizzles of chocolate for a sweeter flavor.

There are dozens of choices. The hardest part will be choosing which pretzel to get. But of course you can always order different varieties! Add them other kosher candy delights or wrap them up on their own and use them as party favors.

Candy Wedding Favors for Guests

April 9th, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Candy - (0 Comments)

candy giftsAs if enjoying a delicious meal and dancing the night away isn’t enough for your guests, they will be expecting a small party favor at the end of the night. There are many directions you can go in, but most can agree the kosher candy route is a delicious choice. In the past I’ve received some adorable gifts, however, most of them are quite useless and end up in a drawer I will later clean out. The best party favors are the gifts people can use, such as coasters or a bottle stopper. However, these can be very pricey, especially for larger weddings.

But kosher candy is very affordable and you know it will not be wasted. Who would honestly complain about a little candy? No one I know! Instead of opting for the traditional Jordan almonds, which not everyone is a fan of, you can choose just about any chocolate or candy you wish to be wrapped and put into adorable mesh bags at The Candy Store. Another option is to choose after dinner mints. Minty fresh breath after a night of feasting is splendid idea!

Whatever you decide, know that you will find plenty of tasty candy options at The Candy Store to sweeten your special day.

Chocolate Is Better Mixed

April 2nd, 2012 | Posted by KristenM in Candy - (0 Comments)

kosher candySometimes when I get a craving for chocolate, I just want pure chocolate and nothing else. Not in the form of a cookie or coated over peanuts. I just want a nice bar of chocolate. But most of the time, eating just a hunk of chocolate can be a bit much. That’s why I much prefer chocolate mixed with other delectable food items. Two of my favorite foods mixed with chocolate are raspberry and coconut. Raspberry adds a nice touch of sweetness without being too overbearing. And neither flavor takes away from the other. Coconut, on the other hand, adds texture and a bit of crunch. Plus, it’s just delicious.

Mint is a runner-up, providing a cool and refreshing flavor. At the Candy Store there is a delicious flavor to be mixed with chocolate to satisfy all palates. They have a large selection of kosher candy that is sure to be a big hit this Passover, and all year round. Don’t just opt for the plain chocolate. Give people a nice selection and let their taste buds enjoy a blending of delicious flavors. Chocolate is great, but chocolate mixed with other food is fantastic.

Look for an assortment of candy gifts that will delight the tongue.
